Stephen Noel Salt (Steve) a.k.a Ringo was my mums partner. He was happy, content, funny, private, crackers and a great person to know.
He loved rock music, especially E.L.O and was a brilliant drummer. He had long hair!!! Rock n roll! He was the drummer at Sheffield Lane Top W.M.C for many years.
My mum adored him, and so did my son, who he would sit for hours with, making things out of match boxes, toilet roll tubes and anything else he could find, it was like Blue Peter in their living room sometimes!
Unfortunately he was assaulted by a gang of teenages one afternoon. The police never caught who did it. He was made of tough stuff, so he thought he'd recovered totally unscathed from the incident. A few weeks later, Steve complained of earache, then the headaches started. After much nagging, he went to the doctors, he sent him for some tests, and the diagnosis was throat cancer. After a shocking operation which didnt work, he resigned himself to the fact that he was terminally ill, and faced it head on and with great dignity.
Then, one night, mum called an ambulance. Steve was rushed to the hallamshire Hospital, where he sadly passed away.
He was finally free from pain. When I went to see him at the chapel of rest, his face looked reliefed and peaceful.
I put his drumsticks in his coffin, just in case he needed them in heaven.
Miss you Steve, look after Bonnie. See you soon mate xx

11 years tomorrow since you left us Steve, it only seems like yesterday. We'll never forget you, sleep well and we'll see you tomorrow xxx

My Dream of You
I had a lovely dream last night
I wish it had come true.
I travelled on a shooting star
and made my way to you.
You welcomed me with open arms
and held me oh so tight.
You took me to a wonderful place
and what a beautiful sight.
The angels were singing quietly
as you took me by the hand.
Into God's Beautiful Garden
a wonderous and pleasant land.
You kissed me softly on the lips
I held you close to me.
I didn't want to let you go
I couldn't set you free.
You told me that you loved me
and would for ever more.
But that I must go back now
and you led me to Heaven's Door.
I floated down upon a cloud
My eyes were filled with tears.
You waved goodbye once again
and said wait a few more years.
As I awoke this morning
and I lay there in my bed
I couldn't help but wonder
at all things you said.
I know you are at peace now,
and I am still your loving wife
I thank the dear Lord up above
for bringing you into my life.
So when my time is over
and I lay my head to rest
I'll go back on that shooting star
To the one I love the best.

Mums ok, shes still as stubborn as ever!

Mums ok. The little coloured one (Susie the cat) is driving mum crackers! 15 years old, and shes acting like a kitten!
